The Franciscan Home Study Program (FHSP)

History of Franciscan Home Study Program

The Franciscan Franciscan Home Study Program (FHSP) is an educational program under the management of Saint Francis of Assisi College (SFAC) which is supervised by the High School Department. Alongside with the establishment of SFAC on 1981, is the increasing demand for alternative mode of learning for students who cannot participate in mainstream education. Thus, the concept of SFAC home schooling was born on the on the late 90's with the initiative of one of the founding pillars of SFAC - Mrs. Remedios "Nanay" Olivera Oñas. FHSP started catering to the needs of the students in 1999. The head or coordinators of the FHSP for the past years include:

               Mrs. Castro (2000 - 2001)

               Mr. Dante De Jesus (2001 - 2005)

               Mrs. Sumil (2005 - 2008)

               Mrs. Nilda Sergio (2008 - 2010)

               Mrs. Corazon Saldivar (2010 - 2015)

               Mr. Mark Jhones Garo (2015-2020)

               Mrs. Chato L. Villamayor (2020-Present)

FHSP has been awarded a Government Recognition in 2003 making it officially accredited by the Department of Education. FHSP offers complete secondary education for high school students. For decades of existence since establishment, FHSP had provided quality home school education to many students of different nationalities and locations around the world. It has produced numerous prominent individuals in various social fields. With the aim to keep abreast with the current global and technological advancements, FHSP had also upgraded its system to reach out to more students by launching its online facility. Regardless of distance and geography, students can now learn in their own time and pacing. FHSP as a DepEd authorized educational program, follows the regular academic year set by the Education Department.  The approach used in FHSP is modular with additional enrichment activities. Aside from providing self-learning modules, students can also enjoy one-on-one tutorial consultations with expert teachers for every subject area. Curricular contents are DepEd aligned  and K to 12 compliant.  To date, FHSP remains one of the few providers of quality home school education in the region.
